Imports varied between wheat, oils and beans from 88 countries

The Food Safety Authority revealed that the number of food shipments received from abroad reached 1,985, with a total volume of 350,000 tons during the past week.
The authority indicated in its weekly statement that 21 of these consignments were rejected, explaining that the food consignments varied between 185 types of wheat, various oils and beans from 88 countries, and Russia also topped the largest exporting country to Egypt, followed by Ukraine, Lithuania and Argentina.
Last week, Alexandria Port also ranked first in the number of food consignments received, with a total of 526 consignments, according to the report of the General Administration Information Center for both exports and imports at the Food Safety Authority, followed by Port Said Port with 430 consignments, then Damietta Port with a total of 371 consignments.
Egypt exports 152 thousand tons of foodstuffs:
According to the Authority’s statement, the number of food consignments exported, according to the report of the General Administration Information Center for both exports and imports at the Authority, reached 3,345 consignments, with a total of 152,000 tons, an increase of 30,000 tons over last week. They varied between 550 types of sugar and its products, vegetables, fresh fruits, and various food products.
This week, sweet potatoes also topped the list of exported Egyptian vegetables with 12,000 tons, followed by beans with a total of 6,000 tons, then potatoes with a total of 3,000 tons, while pomegranates topped the list of exported fruits with a total of 13,000 tons, followed by mangoes with a total of 6,000 tons, then strawberries with a total of 5,000 tons.
Last week, Italy represented the largest country receiving Egyptian exports, followed by Saudi Arabia and Vietnam, out of a total of 142 importing countries.
Safaga Port still ranks first in the number of food consignments exported from it with a total of 510 consignments, followed by Cairo Airport Port with 466 consignments, then Alexandria Port with a total of 410 consignments.
