The head of a Jewish synagogue was stabbed to death in Detroit, USA
The head of a synagogue in the American city of Detroit was found stabbed to death outside her home, and the city police said that the motives behind the crime are still unknown.
The crime comes at a time when tensions are escalating between Jews and Muslims across the United States against the backdrop of the war between Israel and Hamas, which claimed the lives of thousands this month.
The victim of the murder was Samantha Wall, 40, a Democratic political activist who heads the Isaac Agree Synagogue in central Detroit.
Emergency personnel found Wall dead “with multiple stab wounds to her body,” a police statement said, adding that traces of blood led officers to Wall’s nearby home, “the location where the crime is believed to have occurred.”
The statement pointed out that “at the present time, the motive behind the killing is unknown.”
The Detroit Free Press reported that Wall was active in the Democratic Party, and worked with Congresswoman Elise Slotkin and in the campaign of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.
The Free Press newspaper reported that Wall was active in a popular organization aimed at building bridges between young Muslims and Jews.
This crime comes days after a child of Palestinian origin was killed and his mother was seriously injured after they were stabbed by a 71-year-old man in the US state of Illinois.
