On Saturday, the island of Socotra, located in southern Yemen, witnessed heavy rains and the flow of torrential torrents, which cut off some areas from each other and disrupted the interests of citizens, coinciding with the approach of tropical storm “Tej” from the coasts of the archipelago.
Local sources in the city of Hadibu, the capital of the Socotra Archipelago, said that the sweeping floods that occurred in the valleys of Hadibu separated the eastern parts of the city from the center of the governorate, and prevented the people of those areas from reaching the city’s market and service center.
According to the Yemeni Meteorological Center, Hurricane “Tej” is moving at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour, towards the west and northwest in the Indian Ocean, towards the Al-Mahra and Dhofar Governorates of Oman, amid expectations of heavy to very heavy rains on the Socotra Archipelago and the eastern and southeastern coasts of the Arabian Sea and the Gulf.
