US Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, Wally Adeyemo, said in a statement to Agence France-Presse that he is seeking to form an “international coalition” to combat the “financing network” of the Hamas movement.

Adeyemo said: “I will go to Europe starting Friday, and I will meet with our allies and partners and talk about what we can do in a coordinated manner to confront the Hamas financing network.”

He added: “Our goal is to build an alliance with countries in the region but also around the world to combat its financing.”

Adeyemo explained that over the past few years, the United States “imposed a number of sanctions on Hamas,” which “like any other party, has devised means and tried to find ways to circumvent our sanctions,” including through cryptocurrencies.

French President Emmanuel Macron proposed that an international “coalition” would undertake, not only financially but also on a broader scale, the “fight” against the Palestinian movement.
